Ok, so I hope most of you all know that March is Women's History Month. So I have decided to do a woman of the day for the whole month.
The woman of today is Marie Curie. Marie Curie was a Nobel Prize winning scientist. She is in the rare, and rather small, category of people who have won two Nobel Prizes. What is unique about her Nobels are that they are in two different fields of science. One is in the area of chemistry and the other is in the arena of physics. She is known for discovering two elements on the periodic table which are Polonium and Radium. She is also well known for discovering radiation, which I, as a cancer survivor, happen to know a little about.
I know this is going to sound crazy, but since I admire her so much I pray to her for help in my studies--and it works.
I love quotes and I think it would be appropiate to end with my favorite quote by Ms. Curie. I think it really speaks to what being a scientist is all about.
"Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less."
